Fetterman believes Thune ‘sincere’ about ACA talks after shutdown

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) said Wednesday he thinks Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) would engage in “sincere” talks about extending the enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits once the government reopens.

Fetterman — who came out on Tuesday in favor of the GOP “nuking” the Senate filibuster to pass a bill to reopen the government — said it’s important for senators simultaneously to prioritize funding the government while pushing for the health care subsid...

A group of front-line House Republicans on Tuesday called on Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) to “immediately” address the expiring enhanced ObamaCare tax credits once the government shutdown ends.

Led by Reps. Jeff Van Drew (R-N.J.) and Jen Kiggans (R-Va.), 13 lawmakers told Johnson that millions of their constituents would face a massive spike in health premiums without an extension of the subsidies before their expiration at the end o...

Another 26 percent said they’re “somewhat” concerned, 8 percent said they’re “not too co...

Who will get hit hardest by expiring ACA health insurance subsidies?

The fight over enhanced premium tax credits for the Affordable Care Act's (ACA) marketplace drags on in Congress as crucial deadlines draw near and certain groups stand to be hit the hardest if an agreement to extend the subsidies doesn’t materialize.

Estimates of how many will be impacted by expiring tax credits have ranged from 3 million to more than 4 million enrollees. Based on early projections, this subsection is likely to be younger.

“Young adults would s...

Poll finds more people are starting to blame Democrats for shutdown

Americans are more likely to blame Republicans than Democrats for the ongoing government shutdown, but a new YouGov/The Economist poll shows that gap is beginning to narrow.

Last week, 11 points separated the two sides, with 41 percent of respon...

Jeffries: Greene has had ‘surprisingly enlightened few weeks’

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) says Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has been acting more “enlightened” in recent weeks after the ardent MAGA supporter broke with her party on the Epstein file discharge petition and the expiring federal health care subsidies.

“It does seem to many of us that she’s had a surprisingly enlightened few weeks in terms of her perspective on both the Epstein files” and the ObamaCare subsidies, Jeffries said Monday on MSNBC’s “Ka...
