Democratic attorneys general sue Trump administration to block ObamaCare changes

A coalition of 20 Democratic attorneys general sued the Trump administration Thursday to block implementation of a rule they argue will undermine the Affordable Care Act.

The complaint was co-led by California, Massachusetts and New Jersey and filed in federal court in Massachusetts. The lawsuit alleges the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) illegally made changes to the health law, which will make it harder for people to enroll and will shift co...

Republican says he’s been called ‘racist’ by House colleagues over Medicaid work requirements

Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.) said he has “been called a racist” by fellow members of the House Ways and Means Committee for his support of Medicaid work requirements passed this month as part of the GOP's massive tax and spending legislation.

“I think work matters in America. I’ve been criticized by that — I’ve been called a racist because I think you should work — by members of the Ways and Means Committee,” Hern said Wednesday during an interview with NewsNation reporter Jo...

GOP faces ‘big, beautiful’ blowback risk on ObamaCare subsidy cuts

Medicaid cuts have received the lion’s share of attention from critics of Republicans’ sweeping tax cuts legislation, but the GOP’s decision not to extend enhanced ObamaCare subsidies could have a much more immediate impact ahead of next year’s midterms.

Extra subsidies put in place during the coronavirus pandemic are set to expire at the end of the year, and there are few signs Republicans are interested in tackling the issue at all.

To date, only Se...

Rollins: Medicaid recipients, automation can replace deported farmworkers

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins told reporters Tuesday that she thinks Medicaid work requirements and automation will help offset President Trump's massive immigration crackdown, which has threatened migrant farmworkers.

"There's been a lot of noise in the last few days and a lot of questions about where the president stands and his vision for farm labor," Rollins said during a news conference with Republican governors. "Ultimately, the answer on this is automation, al...

Medicaid cuts could define midterms

Medicaid is set to become a key issue in the battle over control of Congress in next year’s midterm elections now that President Trump’s "big, beautiful bill" has passed.

Congress passed the largest Medicaid cuts in the program’s 60-year history through the GOP’s megabill right before the July 4th holiday, a $1 trillion reduction that's projected to push more than 12 million low-income individuals off their health insurance over the next decade.

During an appearance on CBS News's "Face The Nation," Hasset was asked about Americans' concerns that about 12 million Americans could lose Medicaid coverage, according to a report by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO...

How Trump’s megabill will impact health care

The massive tax cut legislation passed by the House and Senate this week will dramatically upend health care in America.

The legislation, now on its way to President Trump, was never framed as a health bill, but it will mark the biggest changes to U.S. health policy since the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was passed in 2010.

The bill's provisions will impact patients, doctors, hospitals, and insurers, as Republicans partially paid for it by cutting more than $1 trill...
