Democrats eager to fight Vance over ObamaCare rollback

Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) said he wants to roll back ObamaCare’s protections for people with preexisting conditions, reopening a fight that’s repeatedly burned Republicans in the past — and one Democrats are eager to have.

During a campaign rally in North Carolina on Wednesday, Vance described a plan to remove federal regulations from the health care system but still ensure people get the coverage they need.

Key takeaways from the Senate’s second IVF clash

Senate Republicans on Tuesday for the second time blocked a Democratic bill that would have created a federal right to in-vitro fertilization and guaranteed insurance coverage of IVF and other fertility treatments.

Republicans blocked the same bill in June, and the outcome this time around was never in doubt. Just like in June, the GOP decried it as a show vote. Only Republican Sens. Susan Collins (Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) voted with Democrats.

House, Senate Democrats press leadership to quickly extend ObamaCare subsidies

House and Senate Democrats are pressing leadership to quickly pass legislation extending ObamaCare’s enhanced subsidies before they expire at the end of 2025.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) and Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-Ill.) led a letter sent Wednesday to bipartisan leaders in both chambers urging them to act “at the next possible legislative opportunity.” It was signed by 41 Senate Democrats and 154 House Democrats.

The enhanced subsidies were first put in...

Harris avoids getting too detailed as she battles with Trump

Vice President Harris has avoided getting into the nitty-gritty of detailed policy positions as she seeks to win over centrist voters from former President Trump.

While the vice president has outlined a tax plan and has proposals to lower housing costs and to combat price gouging, she hasn’t gone into detail on plans to fix the immigration system, fight climate change, curb gun violence and expand access to health care.

Harris has said she wants to bring back the bip...

Republicans block Senate Democrats’ IVF bill

Republicans on Tuesday blocked a bill that would have created a right to access in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments and mandated that insurance plans cover the practice, deriding the vote as a political ploy.

Senators voted against advancing the bill, 51-44, marking the second time Democrats have sought to put Republicans on the record on the contentious issue. Sixty votes were needed to open debate on the measure.

Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Lisa...

Vance revives old GOP fights on ObamaCare insurance coverage

Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) on Sunday floated an idea that would turn back the clock on covering people with preexisting conditions, relitigating a position that was a hallmark of GOP proposals to replace ObamaCare during Donald Trump’s presidency.

In an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press," Vance said Trump’s health plan would “promote choice” in the health system by separating sicker people into different health insurance coverag...

Vance says ‘of course’ Trump has a plan ‘to fix American health care’

Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), the Republican nominee for vice president, said "of course" former President Trump has a plan to "fix American health care" in a Sunday interview and also outlined several benchmarks of a health care framework.

"He, of course, does have a plan for how to fix American health care, but a lot of it comes down Kristen to deregulating the insurance market so that people can choose a plan that actually makes sense for them," Vance told NBC News's Kristen Welk...
