North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein (D) is urging the state’s congressional delegation to vote against the massive Senate-passed domestic policy bill because of the serious consequences it would have for residents.
“I urge you to press pause on this bill because of the immediate and long-term threats it poses to the health and well-being of North Carolinians and the economic stability of our state,” Stein wrote in a letter dated Wednesday.

Medicaid cuts could save thousands of lives
“A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes,” goes the well-known saying often attributed to Mark Twain. There is no better demonstration of this wisdom than today's falsehoods about Medicaid cuts that are reported, repeated, reposted and retweeted, even as the truth gets but a few eyeballs.
NBC News recently predicted, “Proposed Medicaid cuts could lead to thousands of deaths.” Other mainstream media claimed similar ...
Jeffries presses GOP lawmakers to find ‘John McCain-level courage’
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday invoked the late-Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) dramatic and decisive vote to sink the Republicans’ 2017 effort to repeal ObamaCare during President Trump’s first term — as Jeffries argued against the GOP megabill.
"What type of party would bring a bill to the House floor that rips away Medicaid from those in need? What kind of party would bring a bill to the House floor that literally robs food from the mouths of ch...

Senate Republicans on Tuesday passed the largest cuts to Medicaid since the program began in the 1960s, a move that would erode the social safety net and cause a spike in the number of uninsured Americans over the next decade.
The tax and spending bill is projected to cost more than $3 trillion during that time, but it would be partially paid for with about $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid.
Almost 12 million lower-income Americans would lose their health insurance...
Conservatives huddle with Thune after plan to cut more from Medicaid stalls
A trio of conservatives pushing for an additional $313 billion in federal Medicaid spending cuts marched into Senate Majority Leader John Thune’s (R-S.D.) office late Monday night to hash out the next steps for President Trump’s megabill after it appeared likely that an amendment to slow the growth of Medicaid was headed for defeat.
Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.), the sponsor of the amendment to roll back the expansion of Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, was spotted...
